Painting takeoffs that separate the surfaces
Painting scope depends on the surfaces and finish schedule, not just the footprint. Sigma Build separates walls, ceilings and opening components, with room and finish information to help you prepare your bid.
What your takeoff includes
- Wall and ceiling surface areas grouped by location and finish.
- Door and window components with counts, areas or frame lengths as applicable.
- Interior and exterior scope controls and room-level colour selections.
Drawings to send
Send floor plans, elevations, sections and the painting or finish schedule. Door and window schedules help identify which components need painting.

Common questions
Is window glass counted as paintable area?
No. Glazing is excluded from paintable area; window components and frames are measured separately where they are in scope.
Can I leave exterior painting out?
Yes. The exterior scope control removes exterior work while retaining interior quantities. Review finish and colour selections for the surfaces you include.
